I noticed my fan does not stop even on sleep mode... I ran an Apple test and got error: 4MOT/4/40000003:HDD-1371. Any advice in how to get fan settings/functioning back to normal?

You have a hardware problem. What I'm anticipating is either one the fan sensors has failed or one of the fans is misbehaving. At this point take it to you local Apple Store or AASP for repair and to be thoroughly diagnosed. Do not operate until the machine has been fixed or further damage may occur.

You get it back to normal temps by getting the computer repaired!
