“macOS could not be installed on your computer”

I logged in to my Mac, but it automatically took me to the update and it says that macOS could not be installed. I have restarted it multiple times and have not been able to login to my desktop. What do I do?

Are you presented with a login window at all or does it not accept your password?

If you see no login window at all, you may need to reinstall macOS on your machine:
