No luck so far. Just got it back from the apple repair store I took it to and they thought they got going by doing an offline install of Yosemite but when I was literally doing the setup and froze and restarted. Finally got it in and was able to get the kernel panic. Good thing they didn't charge me;

I ended up taking it back to the Apple repair store to see if they can do anything else. The tech said they would do a clean install of High Sierra and create a temp user to see if they can stress the machine. The initial hardware test didn't show anything.

I 'll do this after I reinstall Yosemite. After recovering Yosemite, I tried to upgrade to High Sierra, and then started giving me the kernel panic again.

So the computer is freezing and/or restarting. But I'm not getting the kernel panic when it reboots.

I thought it could be the battery, but the cycle count is only at 255.

Yeah, that's my next step this afternoon. Thanks for all of the help. I'll post what they say.
