Black leather apple watch band sticking

I have the 38mm black leather apple watch. The side of the band that has the buckle slides very easily forward and backward at the base where it connects to the watch, however, the other side that connects to the top of the watch is not sliding well, its like it is sticking to the metal and doesn't want to move back and forth? I have tried cleaning where the leather wraps around the metal and it helps for a little but then it sticks all over again?

Apple's instructions for cleaning your Apple Watch and band are detailed here:

Apple Watch bands are covered under Apple's Limited Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, but not against normal wear and tear or accidental damage.

If you are concerned that your band may be defective, then I suggest that you contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available, if required), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider with a view to having it inspected and, if recommended, replaced under warranty:
