My iPhone 7 will connect to Apple CarPlay but my iPhone X will not

I found out through I-fixit that you have to go to settings/General/restriction/and allow CarPlay. Why could Apple not mention this in any of the connection guides I have read. Most of us don’t know all the buttons under settings.
