I just installed another supplemental update today for High Sierra and was amazed that the wake problem for my MacBook Pro had gone! However on reboot to test the system again from sleep. Nope still there with backlight on, keyboard lit up. Anyone else found the same issue again? Hard power button reset and reboot, screen is now on! Do Not Let Her Sleep!

That sentence makes no sense to me. Shutting the lid puts the Mac to sleep, as it it is supposed to do, it does not wake it up.
Hi Lanny, The problem is waking after sleep is induced by shutting the lid. When I open the lid I just get the back light come on and keyboard light up. The only way out of this situation is to hold the power button for total restart of system. I have tried resetting the SMC and everything else like apples instruction says but it does not seem to work. What is interesting is that waking works in safe mode fine, so it must be something being altered when the full system starts. I have NO other 3rd party apps either just what is in High Sierra. A fresh install.
Is their any way of flashing the Efi firmware and any other firmware which is not during High Sierra install? Maybe something is corrupt in that?

Instead of closing the lid to induce the Sleep mode, select Sleep from the Apple menu while the lid is open. Observe the screen for any clues as to why the Sleep process is taking so long to complete.

Hey Lanny is there anyway in making sure all the apple firmware is correct and not corrupt. I would like to reflash the whole system. Efi update back in November for High Sierra maybe be the issue as I don't think it installed correctly.
When I tried this nothing happen and then after a number of attempts the system crashed to apple boot logo and would not move. Definitely something wrong with sleep on the system? I ask yesterday but no reply is there a way to flash the whole firmware EFI SMC etc in one hit?

Yes on opening the lid the computer does not show desktop just backlight. If I do the same in safe mode it works...
