No way to remove songs from playlist on iphone

I admit I am not that saavy with itunes after having my phone 7 yrs, but I had no trouble until they changed quite a while back to this new interface they now use. I am trying to remove songs from the playlist, it has an edit button but it doesn't do anything. you can click, Touch the song it does nothing swipe the song it does nothing all it does is play the song I don't want to play the song I wanted to delete this song. So then I click the done button even though I didn't do anything to start with. What's the point of having an edit button if it doesn't work?

iPhone 6s, iOS 10.3.3

Hi there, jcruby!
Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are wanting to remove a song from a playlist and I am happy to help out! You are heading in the right direction by going to the playlist in the Music app and tapping Edit. What you need to do after you press Edit is tap the little red circle to the left of the song title. This will show the option to delete on the right side and remove the song from the playlist.
You can also check out this article to Delete music, movies, and TV shows from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. This article will give you steps to delete a specific song as well:

Delete a single item

  1. In the Music app, find the item that you want to delete. If you see a download icon User uploaded file next to the item, the item is stored in the cloud, not on your device.
  2. Use 3D Touch or touch and hold the item.
  3. Tap Remove User uploaded file .
  4. When prompted to confirm, tap Remove Download or Remove Downloads.

Cheers!

Hi thanks for your response that doesn't work on my iPhone I have to go in and individually play each song and then delete it. If I push edit there's no little red thing that comes up next to any of my songs either the playlists that are downloaded or the ones that are in the cloud. I don't use the cloud anymore because I don't like all the trouble it is, in regards to my pictures. It will only let me delete the whole playlist through the edit button. It doesn't seem like the way their apps work is consistent through all the other products. My I pads were totally different. I don't know now because I pretty much quit using them
