How do I move a piano note from the bass clef to the treble clef in score editor?

I am using GarageBand version 10.2.0. I saw an answer to this question from back in 2015 in another forum, but it referenced windows and commands that I can't find in my version of GarageBand.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3), GarageBand v10.2.0

No, it is not possible in GarageBand. You can only print one track at a time.

Creating sheet music is not well supported in GarageBand. The score editor is meant to edit the notes, not to create a good looking printed version of the score.

You would get better support for printed scores, if you invested into Logic Pro X. It is a lot more versatile. Logic Pro X can open your GarageBand Projects, and in Logic you can easily drag notes between the staffs of a piano track.

If you use to see a piano score with the notes separated between a treble clef staff and a bass clef staff, the separation is automatic. You cannot move the notes between the staffs other than by transposing them.

To be able to see the right hand notes in a treble clef staff and the left hand notes in the bass clef staff, use separate tracks for the two hands. Then set the score view for the right hand to use only the treble clef and the track for the left hand to use the bass clef.

In GarageBand 10.2 open the track editor in score view.

Then click the clef in score view and click the clef you want to use for this track. You will only see one staff after that, either with the treble clef or the bass clef.

Very helpful! That worked great.

But now a related question: if I now wanted to print the right hand (treble) clef AND the left hand (bass) clef so that it looks like "normal" sheet music for a piano - is there a way to do that?

(I am building up a multi-track composition, and would like to be able to print out the right and left hand piano part, without printing out the tracks for the other software instruments)

thanks in advance,

Roger
