printer does not works after downloading High Sierra

Hello,

Since updating my software to mac High Sierra, I keep getting the printer (Canon iX6820) is not connected message. For a little while, I could go through a few motions such as unplugging/plugging, taking the ink cartridges in/out, turning the machine on/off and printing a test page to get it started again. This worked for a few weeks. Now nothing works. I went to the canon site to update software but cannot. Every time I download, I just get a bunch of characters, not software. I also get the message to take the printer in for maintenance. Even when it was working.

Any other advice to fix this or even recommend a NEW printer that will work with High Sierra?

Thanks!
