Reset Ipad

My son forgot his password and the device is locked. I did what it said and have the I tunes and the USB but nothing else?

You've connected the iPad to your computer's iTunes and followed the instructions on the page that you posted from : If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled ? Does your computer's iTunes recognise the iPad ? If it doesn't try : If iTunes doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod - Apple Support
