videos have wrong date

videos have wrong date

I am importing pictures and videos (.avi etc) directly from the pictures folder on my windows laptop, via wifi connection, to the Photos application on my Mac. After doing so, the dates for the videos have changed from the original creation/modified (both the same) to the date of import (today).

I'm running High Sierra on a MacBook Pro, if that makes any difference. I've searched all over with no solutions, although it seems everyone has slightly different circumstances. Please help and thank you

I was afraid of that, although I did read that Exiftool might be able to help. Do you know anything about this? Could it add the necessary data to the files prior to importing to the Photos app? Thanks Larry!

No idea - I use iCloud Photo Library so do not mess with any of that

I do not believe that videos have EXIF/IPTC data to edit but again I have no need to go there in my work flow

You certainly can play with EXIF tool - it is a good tool to have around soetimes

there is really no solution since videos do not have standard embedded date info like Photos do - after import use the image menu ==> adjust time and date command to correct the date
