Question: Old Ipod isn't charging and being recognized by my computer.

My Ipod hasn't been charged in months/years. When it's plugged into the wall outlet I only get a red sliver of the battery icon. Then after some time it'll go to the apple logo for awhile and maybe flash to the lock screen only to go black again for a retry. It's been like this for the past few days and I have done the process to bring up the image of Itunes with a cable on it but it isn't being recognized by my computer to access it. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi SpaceDustChaser,

I understand that your iPod touch wasn't charged for a long time, and now it doesn't seem to be charging and when it does, iTunes doesn't see it connected despite it having the connect to iTunes screen. I'm happy to provide some help for this issue.

Check out the following article for help with your iPod touch not charging:

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't charge - Apple Support

Then once it's charging again, use the article below to help iTunes see your iPod touch:

If iTunes doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod - Apple Support

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Cheers!
