my phone is black with a constant searching

All of a sudden my phone went black with a constant searching circle in the center of it. The phone is charged. When I am able to get to the home screen, by pushing the on/off button with the low volume button at the same time, the home screen stays lit for one second and then goes black again. Please help. I am desperate.
