My MacBook Pro does not recognize my new iPhone X. The cable connections are all good. Seems to be a software issue of some kind. Any suggestions as to what is causing this and how to fix it?

Try resetting the iPhone
User troubleshooting is:
1. restart, ie power off/on,
2. reset http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430,
3. restore from backup, restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Thanks, but I have tried restarting the phone many times and that doesn't seem to change anything. I will look into restoring the phone's settings.
