External Drive: partition map check failed because no slices were found

Hi, I'm trying to use my new 1 TB WD Elements external drive to back up my 2013 macbook Air but it's not working in Timecapsule.

I get the following error message:

partition map check failed because no slices were found

That's the same message I get in First Aid whether I try to "repair disk" and "verify disk."

In Terminal, I typed in: "diskutil info disk2" and this is what I got:

Device Identifier: disk2

Karims-MacBook-Air:~ karimladak$ diskutil info disk2

Would really appreciate the help!! Thanks

Looks like you'll need to format that drive before you can use it. I'd recommend formatting it a Mac OS Extended.
