Question: Watch connectivity issues

Apple Watch shows it is connected to my iPhone (green icon in control center) but I'm not getting any notifications and activity is not syncing. Also, when I tried to access the Passcode tab on the Watch app, a message is displayed saying "Could not connect to Apple Watch". Is unpairing my devices and pairing them again the only fix here? I've tried every other thing, Bluetooth, Airplane Mode, restarting both devices in different order, and both of my devices are updated with the latest OS version.

Apple Watch Series 3, watchOS 4.2.3, Paired with iPhone 6 (iOS 11.2.6)

I suggest that you follow the instructions here, if necessary including unpairing and re-pairing your Apple Watch - including if either or both of your devices indicate that they are connected, but they do not behave accordingly:
