finder fails to find file

We're getting offended as paying users of useless passive agressive condescending "suggestions" that enumerate only all the things users might have failed to do right, that usually start with "make sure you have the correct...". Just to prove the point that Finder has a real problem: we type the name of the (non hidden) file specifying the folder to search in, we're actually looking at the file in a separate window in the folder we're searching, and yet Finder fails to reveal the file in the search pane.

Don't respond unless you have a real answer that acknowledges that Finder is ill conceived, and have a true "fix".
