google apple contacts synch issue

Hi,

I'm having a frustrating problem. It seems that my Google contacts are synching so quickly that it's next to impossible to add a contact. Midway through nearly every attempt the card I'm trying to add disappears and I find myself looking at another contact. I often notice a split-second movement in my contacts list in the left hand column at the time. I've gone into the account preferences to change the synch/fetch settings to no avail.

I've tried troubleshooting by adding the contact in iCloud without incident. Thus far the only workaround I've been able to do is to add the contact in iCloud and then drag to my Google account group--which is a pain!

While I can't say with any certainty this issue seems to have occurred after my system's last update in High Sierra to 10.13.3.
