Do my friends get notified when i am checking to see where they are

When using the find my friends app do my friends get a notification when i check to see where they are at? Or can they set up alerts or notifications to see when i check where they are?

Automatic "Find Friends" notification Hello,I accidentally managed to set up my Find Friends app to automatically notify my friend when I leave a certain place. The problem is I cannot find it anywhere in the app, thus cannot turn it off. ive been using find my friends for years and recently my wife is getting notifications when i am following her and she leaves a location. Is this a new feature I’ve been using Find My Friends app for years and since iOS 13 I think my wife is getting notifications when i am following her and she leaves a location. Is this a new feature or a way to turn it off?
