Sound through headphones only?

today my sons iPad says headphones when increasing volume up or down. He can listen to YouTube if he plugs headphones in but otherwise nothing.

The speakers work when I try tones but in apps just says headphones. He only 6 and autistic so missing being able to just watch the iPad (he has sensory issues and doesn't like the headphones)

ive reset iPad, turned off and on and restarted it but nothing has worked.

Anyone able bel to offer advice on what has happened and how I can fix it pretty quickly?!

Hey there, Lynsey,

Thanks for stopping by the Apple Support Communities. If I understand your post, your iPad will only play sound through headphones, and when you try to increase the volume you just see "Headphones", instead of the device volume, being adjusted. I would be happy to help!

Based on what you've described, I would recommend reaching out to Apple Support for more assistance, as detailed in If your iPhone is stuck in headphone mode - Apple Support . You can do that here: Contact Apple Support .

Have a great day!
