IBooks: Adding notes to PDF files

I've saved hundreds of (free) knitting patterns as PDFs in iBooks. As I knit I want to make notes to keep track of where I am in the pattern. I can make notes in books but not pdfs. Is there a way to add (searchable) notes to pdfs?

Question about Notes I have used a number of different text editors and word processors on my computer over the years but just recently began using Notes for short messages and so forth. Had two questions: Is there any way to save docs written in Notes to a folder on my computer or can Notes docs only be saved in the app itself such as in iOS? I know that I can export as a PDF from notes but there does not seem to be any way to save or export in any other formal. Question #2: Is there a way to adjust line spacing in notes as one can do in Pages and in many other text editors? I am using a 2018 MacBook Air running 10.14.6 and Notes 4.6. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I want to import multiple page pdfs to me notes. Only get the first page so far! My Apple notes pdf files that I have imported will not show further that the first page. Any ideas?
