macOS Mail problems

mail comes in corrupted with headers from the wrong email, and garbled bodies. I've rebuilt the mailbox countless times, and synchronized accounts, but it has not affect. Should I, and is there a way to remove OS Mail and reinstall fresh?

Mail crashes when I execute Erase Deleted Items When I finish with Mac Mail I go to Mailbox<Erase Deleted Items<In All Accounts. After about 15-20 seconds it crashes.
