Why has my external monitor gone black?

Just upgraded to High Sierra and it has caused my external monitor to go black. Only the mouse is visible on the screen. I am using a J5 Docking station on a MacBook Pro. What is the resolve for this issue?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3)
