Question: What's the deal with the USB Transferring speed?

Hi Guys,

Tonight I'm trying to transfer 546.9MB onto a USB Drive, I've been sitting here for 45-minutes waiting. I've had this problem the last couple days, I've change the USB Formatting, it's not on a hub of any kind nothing is helping.

I stick this UBS in my Windows 7 machine and it works fantastic.

Does anyone know a fix for this behavior?

The way it's going right now, I'm going to sell this Mac, unless Apple pulls their heads out, and fixes this. I mean 45-minutes waiting for 546.9MB to transfer? Ridiculous!

Mac mini, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3)

That is ridiculous and not typical. It isn't clear if you are using a USB flash drive or an external drive and it makes a difference. If it is an external drive the problem could be with the cable. Sometimes interference from the display or computer can cause read/write issues with a cheap cable. I'd also try doing a system management reset: How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support As long as the drive isn't formatted NTFS it shouldn't matter how the drive is formatted for a file that small though in general I stay away from FAT.
