Still not working

I’ve tried signing in and out of my Apple ID. I’ve tried turning iMessage off and on. When I type someone’s name to start a new text message it keeps bringing up thejr email and I don’t see their phone number. Any advice?

Unable to add my phone number to my apple id for people to contact me I recently updated my phone one day ago, to the new iOS 15.3 software update. After doing this, I received a message from my friend stating that she is unable to message me through iMessage. I found it strange and proceeded to figure why this was happening. I then realized my phone number was not connected with iMessage and the only option I had was to sign in using my apple ID/email. I tried adding my phone number to my apple ID and though it is a valid number, I kept being that it was invalid. I’m asking that someone please help with this because my phone number is literally how individuals contact me through iMessage.

My email as my number Why is my email showing up as my number ? I just got a new phone and my Apple ID is sending as my number to friends and family. I tried to select my number in iMessages and all I get is a loading bar. I tried to restart my phone a million times and it still continues to do this. I have tried everything I could and I have looked up but yet it still won’t work. All I am trying to do is switch my old phone to my new phone. what did I do wrong ? ( I am asking for a friend )
