I'm trying to reinstall the Windows Support software without having to reinstall Windows 10 again but, when I download the WSS using BCA in Mac OS and, then boot into Windows 10, Windows wants to format the USB stick!

I've tried formatting it with FAT 32, AHFS, EX DOS but, when I download the WSS, it must overwrite the file system?

Can any member tell me how to get this right please?

I would have thought that when I download the Windows Support software to my USB stick, using BCA in Mac OS, BCA would prepare the USB stick for use in Windows 10 but, when I reboot to Windows 10, the Windows system wants to format the USB stick before it can be used?

MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015), OS X Yosemite (10.10.4), null

This is a GPT/FAT format disk. Can you erase the disk using the following command and post the output of the commands?

diskutil eraseDisk fat32 WININSTALL MBR disk2

diskutil list

In the Disk Utility UI, you can use following settings to achieve the same result.

Hi Loner T

Thanks for your reply!

With regard to my USB stick, you say that it's normal formatted as FAT/MBR?

At what point does that happen? I don't see that option in the 'disk utility'?

As I said in my initial post, surely when you download the 'windows support' software using BCA, doesnt doing that, setup the USB stick for use in Windows 10?

I've been able to download the 'windows support software' using BCA but, when I boot into Windows 10, Windows can't read the USB stick and wants to format it so, could you please 'talk me through' how to get this right so that I can reinstall the software from within Windows 10?

The USB was connected to the only port on the 12" MacBook and I launched Terminal an this was the result! Is this what you requested: (I've removed my personal info, with xxxx)

Hi

I've checked out those links but, in the second image, I didn't see FAT/MBR?

Hopefully this is what you want:
