Managing Mac and iCloud Storage

I store all my files on my Mac in my iCloud drive. This means that ICloud automatically transfers them from my Mac to the iCloud when my Mac is running low on space. Is there a way to force my Mac to do this with individual files? I.e. There is a large file which I would like to be transferred to the iCloud now rather than waiting for my MacBook to do this later?

MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015), macOS High Sierra (10.13.3)

There currently isn't a way to force the transfer of a specific file. You may want to make the suggestion to Apple: Feedback - iCloud - Apple
