After I restored CONTACTS, most of the profile photos are gone

This is not earth shattering. Just annoying.

My contacts were syncing between my iPad/iPhone/iCloud but not to my MBPro running 10.13.3. Apple Discussions suggested restoring the Contacts, which I did and that solved the problem

However, most of the profile photos are gone on the Mac. They are there in iCloud and on the devices but not in Contacts on my Mac.

Is there a way to get them back?

Is there a way to find them in a backed up folder?

Again, not a crisis but I would be interested to know if anyone else had this problem or if anyone had a suggestion. Thank you for your time.
