Apple 4 TV Remote inconsistant

I have Apple TV 4 and works well. Last few days the trackpad on the remote was not working well. I tried a system reboot and changed the settings > Remotes and Devices> Touch Surface Tracking > Changed to Fast.

Still no change so as a last resort, simply put a small amount of water on a tissue and wiped the area clean

Problem solved! Works fine again!
