Safari 11.0.3 Does not autofill user name and password

Since the latest update of the OS to 10.13.3 Safari no longer autofills user name and password on previously visited internet sights. Is there a simple fix for this, other than resetting all the passwords?

Thank you

Mac mini, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3)

Safari 11.1

About AutoFill

This is a new security feature.

Safari Login AutoFill

Available for: OS X El Capitan 10.11.6, macOS Sierra 10.12.6, and macOS High Sierra 10.13.4

Impact: A malicious website may be able to exfiltrate autofilled data in Safari without explicit user interaction.

Description: Safari autofill did not require explicit user interaction before taking place. The issue was addressed through improved autofill heuristics.

Helps protect privacy by only AutoFilling usernames and passwords after selecting them in a web form field in Safari.

AutoFill may not work consistently across all sites.

Most of the time, once a user click the arrow button a pop-up will appear, click on the userID

and the user ID will be entered.

Click the arrow button again, another pop-up will appear. Click on the user ID again.

Password will be entered.

iOS 11.3

There are 2 new security features.

1. A user has to click inside the autofill fields, the arrow (interaction) for the autofill to work.

2. If the site is not a secure one, the URL text will turn red in the search box..

Quoting from the below linked HowTo article:

Safari Login AutoFill

CVE-2018-4137

At present this may not work consistently across all sites that require login.

From my experience, a combination of tapping the AutoFill fields, tapping the arrow button, entering the

info manually and tapping the "enter" key helps.

I am posting this as a user like you.

This reply is actually to Apple and not No one wood. Autofill worked fine for me on my ipad until the ios 11.3 update. Now it does not autofill and I have to look up my usernames and passwords in settings every single time. I have a lot of them, so this is frustrating.

I have tried tapping on the empty fields. That does not produce anything useful.

My Safari settings are all appropriate to enabling the autofull of passwords and contacts. Contacts work but passwords do not. I have tried turning those settings on and off. I have restarted the ipad multiple times.

My icloud settings are the dame as before the update.

This is not due to individual website rules. These are websites that prior to the update had no problem woth autofill.

i am not in private browsing mode.

I believe this is a bug in ios 11.3 that Apple needs to fix.

I understand that Apple added a new security feature that requires interaction for autofill to work.

Nevertheless, IT DOES NOT WORK EVEN WITH INTERACTION, As I said, I tap within the field to be filled and nothing useful happens. I do not get a drop down menu of choices. It will sometimes ask if I want to “speak” the name if the user field, which I do not want.

i believe this is a bug that needs fixing.

Agreed. I have exactly the same issue on my IPad.

There is no fix and this a very annoying example of incomplete prerelease testing. I look forward to the end of helpline excuses dressed up as advice.

Autofill works on none of my sites including, Bank, EBay, Facebook, work webmail. All are hardly potentially malicious sites......

I converted to Apple for its quality and reliability and security. I look forward to an update that fixes this issue in the very near future.
