My phone gives me a You are driving message on my desk which overlooks our driveway

I have a window that overlooks the street when a family member takes out the bluetooth equipped car I get a driving message on my phone. I am on 3rd floor and about 40 feet from car. Is this normal?

Mac mini (Late 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

The orange dot I thought that the purpose of the color coded dots were to inform you if your privacy was being broken . But if the orange dot appears when ‘ I use my phone ‘ then it’s not helping me to know if someone else is using my microphone or camera.
