Try navigating to ~(yourHome)/Library/Preferences and deleting all the "com.apple.java.xxxxxxxxxx.plist".(Probably 3 of them) Also "java.plist" further down the list. Then log out and back in or restart. Did that sort the problem?
I thought I was alone with this unique problem but this anomaly is hard to crack! I also have the blank pages when launching Input Method Hotkey, Java Preferences, etc. I have reinstalled, trashed the known prefs, restarted, repaired permissions, ran Disk Warrior and the problem persists. Seems that I've run out of options. Any genius out there to help us resolve this issue? Thanks in advance.
Do an Archive & Install installation, saving user and network settings, and, after ensuring that Java works properly, update to 10.4.9, using the COMBO updater, The A&I process will install a fresh OS, but leave all 3rd-party things in place. See http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120 for details.
