iMac G5 ALS being stored.

I'm preparing to move and as part of the preparation I have to put all but one of my iMacs in storage for a few months. Since the G5 ALS has been connected to AC power all along, the PRAM battery has been (hopefully) kept charged but will discharge while stored (it is normally only shutdown for a few hours each day). This brings up a few questions: First, is the PRAM "battery" an actual battery or just a large capacitor? Second, if it is an actually battery, what are the specifications, and where on the logic board is it located?

I have a lot of older Macs and am fortunate that the two areas of the house where I can store them have wall outlets. This I can keep mine of wall power.

I've seen it suggested that, for storage beyond a few weeks, to remove the battery to prevent damage should it fail and leak. On old G3 and G4 towers I usd to tape the battery inside the case access door so I didn't have to remember where I'd hidden it from myself. 😮

Your user name is very familiar. Did you hang around the forums a lot back when the PowerMac G3 "Beige Beast" was Apple's hot computer?
