Grandfather forgot Apple ID and password recovery is going to take TWO WEEKS!?

I'm helping my grandfather gain access to his Apple ID so that he can install a heart monitoring app tied to a device his doctor recommended. This is very important so that he can monitor his heart due to some fluctuation in his rate.


At this point, due to him repeatedly trying to enter his password, his account is in Password Recovery. The process is now supposedly going to take TWO WEEKS!? I've called Apple Support and I've never experienced such useless customer service. There's nothing ANYONE can do to reset his password? How is this possible when even my bank allows for an automated password reset?


If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

The purpose of the two-week delay is to limit the access of an account to a malicious actor. If his password still doesn't work after the two weeks, I would recommend checking out this webpage: If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support


Finally, it is worth noting that just because Support doesn't give you a satisfactory answer doesn't mean that they are incompetent or useless.
