I want to restore my IPad which is disabled. I have tried itunes, but it says it can't connect because my IPad is disabled

I am trying to restore my IPad with iTunes. It says it can't connect because my IPad is disabled.

Use the instructions in the "Erase your device with recovery mode to remove your passcode." section of If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support
