imovie 10.1.8 imports video but wont import audio from a Canon Optura 100mc Dv Cassette. Used to work somewhat fine but now only random audio with good video. 2009 Imac that is running fine with a new internal HDD.

There have been postings on this thread about iMovie 10.1.8 failing to import DV audio. Some have reported success by importing the DV clips into Quicktime and exporting as .MOV files. These imported into iMovie ok You might try this and see if it works for you. Another option is to convert to MP4 using Handbrake or Mpeg Streamclip.
