How to delete a second Apple ID

I have mistakenly opened a second Apple ID on my MacAir. It is not connected to my other devices and has not been used as all is on the original ID. It could lie dormant but that is untidy.

MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

Actually there is no way to delete an Apple ID.

Just don't sign into it, don't use it and pretend it didn't happen.
