Video files do not have sound upon import into iMovie?

I have recently updated my MacBook Pro's operating system to High Sierra. When I tried to go into iMovie and upload a few of my MP4 (MPEG-4) video files, some of them do not have sound! I tried troubleshooting on my own but could not find any help. What could be the reason that some of them have sound upon importing, while others don't? All of them have sound when played outside of iMovie. Any help would be appreciated.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3)

Hi,

Take a look at this thread, including any links in it, and see if anything in there helps you.

Also, if you haven't already, update to current version iMovie 10.1.8.

EDIT: Try opening iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys, and selecting to delete preferences in the box that appears. Sometimes that cures issues.

The links that I provided you contain all the data that I know about this issue. It may be something that Apple will need to address. If using Handbrake to re-convert to Mp4/AAC doesn't work, at the moment I have no other ideas to offer.
