Issue with Apple TV sound

I own one of the older Apple TVs . This week my sound quit working when watching Netflix or Apple Movies but it still work for Apple Music. I’ve tried restarting it, plugging and unplugging and new hdmi cords. I can’t get anything to work. Help!

no sound on video I have an Apple TV 4K and just today it has stopped playing sound through tv speakers when playing video. all the sound effects when navigating the apps work music plays sound no problem if I play a music video in the Music app I can see the video but no sound, however when I press the menu button the sound from the video plays even though I’m not focused on the video any more. when I select the video as full screen the sound stops my hardware configuration has not changed for the last 2 years and has worked fine every night until today. i have restarted AND unplugged the Apple TV to no avail interestingly, it plays fine on other sources except tv speakers. Apple TV sound not working Right so I have tried literally everything I can think of to get this working and still nada. The sound isn't working out of my Apple TV into our television - the problem that I'm seeing is that there is no options coming up in the Audio Output section in the Apple TV settings menu. I've tested the television to make sure it's not a fault with the television but the sound works fine when plugged in to my laptop so it's definitely an Apple TV issue (both use the HDMI port and that's with any of the 3 HDMI ports on the television and 2 different HDMI cables). I've been googling and can't find anything to point me in the right direction of the issue. It was working fine yesterday and then this morning the sound was gone so after trying everything the only thing I can think that may have happened is that the Apple TV automatically updated overnight and there's something buggy with the software now. Any help would be greatly appreciated because I am going insane!

have you tried to set audio to stereo rather the surround in the settings?
