Colemak keyboard layout with other input method

Hello all,

I would like to trying out Colemak, understand that we can just add it int the system preference, then choose in the task bar. At the same time, English is not just the only one language that I use. Let's say I would like to type Chinese, which requires me to choose another inputs and it will overwrite Colemak. How can I use Colemak as my keyboard layout and at the same time use other input ? thank you.

MacBook Pro TouchBar and Touch ID, macOS High Sierra (10.13.2)

You will have to ask the people who make that IM. Sometimes they have a setting for the input layout. Or perhaps you can go inside the app and modify a file.

I had not heard of that IM before. Could you describe what you like about it? I have a list of other alternatives at

if you would like to learn more about it, you can add it from apple build-in input source as "wubi xing". but also would like to know if we can a solution for it without using the build-in wubi xing. is there a way we can ask apple directly ? thank you in advance.

Only the authors of the 3rd party IM can make it use Colemak, Apple doesn’t play a role. But to have Apple add a feature to its own IM, you can use

Normally apple chinese pinyin input should use the last layout which you have used. So switch to Colemak before you go to chinese pinyin and see if that works.

Hello Tom, It works if I plan to use the built-in pinyin as my input, however, that is not the case. I actually use another input https://qingg.im/ any other suggestion?

it doesn't use pinyin as input method. instead it use "prefix" of a word. which enables people get the words that wanted. while pinyin will returns many (to many) words sounds almost the same.
