Update to iOS 10 or 11

I tried to download an app from App Store but got a message that I need iOS 10.

Howeaver my iPad has iOS 9.3.5 and it states it's the latest software.

Catch 22 situation. How do I get 10 or indeed 11 as the system won't let me do any iOS update given its indicating I have latest version

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10)

Your iPad is at its max iOS of 9.3.5.

If you need a newer iOS to get newer versions of apps, you will need to purchase a new iPad.
