iMovie won't import files from Canon G40 Camcorder

iMovie 10.1.8 won't import files from Canon G40 Camcorder. The import function shows the files and I can play them in the window provided however, it just hangs and won't import them.

iMovie not importing media I'm working on a video in iMovie and am trying to import .MOV, mp3, and mp4 files to edit. I can click on the file in the import folder, click "import selected", but then it does not show up in "my media". I know these files are supported by iMovie because I have uploaded them before, so I'm not sure why it's not working now. Is this a bug that needs to be fixed, or am I doing something wrong?

Canon HG20 Trouble Importing Hello Mac Community!I have an older camcorder (HG20). I used to use it a lot, but have not used it in some time. Anywho, I used it the other day for the first time in a year (or two?) and I am unable to import video from the camcorder into iMovie. I did a couple of different things, but had no luck.First, I just dragged and dropped the files (AVCHD) from the camcorder onto my desktop. Even though they kind of open, they take forever to import into iMovie. I gave it at least 2 hours the other day (and the status bar did not change) before I gave up.Second, I tried directly importing from the camera to iMovie. I let it run overnight, with no change in the status bar before quitting iMovie. (Even though the movie did appear, I could not edit it, and it was very choppy).Any help would be greatly appreciated!Mac OS is MacOS High Sierra (10.13.3). MBP 17 inch, late 2011.

Media import not showing files Video footage in Final Cut Pro is not showing up when connecting compact flash drive so I am unable to import video. Video footage is visible through the Canon utilities app so I know it's there. Final Cut version is 10.4.8 OSX version 10.15.3 Camera is Canon XF100 This used to work on older versions of FCPX and OSX and was easy to import but now nothing shows up when going to the import section. There used to be a Canon plugin but I can't find that and I thought it was no longer needed?
