How to move file to folder within a folder (in a smart way)

On my old mac I could easily move a files to a folder (B) within a folder (A) by hovering the files over A and the entering A to see B.

I can't get my new mac to do this which can be really annoying when moving a lot of files at a time. I can just drop the files in A and then I have mark them again to input them in folder B.

MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)
