Syncing among my Apple devices

Does anyone know why Apple calls it 'forwarding" to have the same messages on all my Apple devices and calls it "syncing" to have the same contacts on all my Apple devices?

Related question: Why do system updates screw up my settings for syncing and forwarding so that I have to call Apple Support to find out why they have quit working the way they used to?

Why do only some Messages sync to my Macbook? I thought with Messages in the cloud, messages were meant to be kept synced between phone/Mac? It doesn't seem to happen for me, some of them sync over, some don't. There doesn't seem to be a pattern - some do, some don't. I mostly use Messages for things like verification texts for when you sign into online services etc, some of them show on my Mac, some only show on my iPhone. What gives...?

Messages in iCloud don't sync in Monterey I just updated a new 2021 MacBook Pro to Monterey and the messages that are not in my contacts appear in my iPhone, but not on the Mac. I enabled messages in iCloud under the iMessage tab and it just won't sync. I already logged out of Messages, restarted the machine and it still won't work. The iPhone gets these messages, but the Mac still won't. Is this a Monterey bug? Everything was fine with Big Sur.

Messages in iCloud not syncing between macOS und iOS Hi everyone,I updated iOS to 11.4 and macOS to 10.13.5. On the Mac I enabled Messages in iCloud in the application’s preferences and initiated a sync using the provided button. Yet still I can not see any signs of messages syncing between my iPhone and my Mac. Deleted messages only delete on one device and remain on the other. The behaviour is exactly like it was with iOS 11.3.x and macOS 10.13.5.I found this discussion, but in my case the mentioned checkbox was unchecked and it always was unchecked as far as I know. Any ideas what to try next?Björn
