System is taking up tons of storage space and don't know how to resolve that.

I'm trying to back up my iPhone to itunes and can't cause of limited storage space. I check storage and "system" is taking up tons of space, and don't know how to resolve it.

MacBook Air, macOS Sierra (10.12.6)
