How to privately name a text message group

I have many group chats I am part of. I‘m trying to find out if I can name each text group my own custom name that doesn’t update for everyone else. I tried naming one of the groups once and the people in my group removed the name. I need to have all groups named so I don’t waste time by having to go through the text messages to see what we are talking about. Some of my groups have some of the same people. I don’t know how this doesn’t drive them crazy but we would all name the groups something personal anyway so it wouod be an issue if they wanted to name it too. Has Apple updated this or am I just stuck with multiple unnamed group texts? Thank you all in advance! 😊
