help needed as watch isnt receiving calls or alerting me

From what I have read - have not had that issue yet - first step is to turn the Watch on and off.
Second is to do disconnect it - unpair - from the iPhone (generally turning off the Bluetooth on the iPhone is sufficient, otherwise go into the Watch App and under Apple Watch there is an option to Un-Pair) and then reconnect it.
Third would be to do a total reset to factory settings and start again.
