I purchased a SandDisk 500G solid state drive. Am running macOS Sierra using time machine as backup.
The solid state drive shows up on exclude list but will not let me remove it. Has anyone had this problem?

How did you format the new SSD? This is your internal SSD??

Time Machine drives must be formatted in HFS+.
FYI: please update your profile. You are no longer using a PowerMac or Tiger.
This is likely due to the SSD being formatted with APFS. Time Machine cannot be used with an APFS formatted backup drive. The drive on your Exclude list is the drive you are backing up. It cannot be removed.
