iTunes needs new version

When I connect my iPhone X or iPad 10.5 Pro (both on iOS 11.2.6) to iTunes 12.1.3.6 on Windows 10 a message appears saying that I need a newer version of iTunes. How can I fix this as this seems to be the latest version? Any help greatly appreciated.

Typically that error is caused by a sticky copy of Apple Software Update. Try repairing that first. Then try installing iTunes again. Otherwise work through the guide that Limnos linked to: Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
