ipad ringer pop-up

The ringer volume randomly pops up. Have tried rebooting and resetting but nothing helps. Anyone have a fix for this?

For info my iPad has no sim card fitted. This has only just become a problem - I've had the iPad for over 4 years

iPad 2 Wi-Fi + Cellular, iOS 11.2.6

What to do if a button or switch isn't working
